The following is a mission statement developed by Dance Division’s officers of 2003.

The mission of the Dance Division of VAHPERD is to promote dance as an art form, as an integral part of a comprehensive enrichment or physical education program, and to help increase the quantity and quality of dance taught throughout Virginia. Increasing the awareness, involvement, communication, and education of teachers in both private and public institutions at all levels allows us to accomplish this goal.
